Planning Commission

The Planning Commission for the City of Binghamton is a nine-member commission comprised of local community members. Five members constitute a quorum. 

Planning Commission meetings are held the FIRST MONDAY of the month, coinciding with the City Council work session. Planning Commission meetings are located in the City Council Chambers at 5:15pm, unless otherwise posted.

Application Process

To apply to appear before the Planning Commission the potential applicant must provide the following:
1.    Completed City of Binghamton Application. Click here for Series A Site Plan Review/SUP application. 
2.    Site plan that includes information required by the Site Plan Checklist (page 3 of application). 
3.    Completed Short Form Environmental Assessment Form (page 11 of application).
4.    Application Fee (page 4 of application)

 

Work Sessions for the Planning Commission

In order to appear before the Planning Commission applicants must attend a work session.  Work sessions are held every Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Applicants must make an appointment to appear at a work session. Please call 772-7028 to reserve a time slot.
 
Work sessions are a chance for potential applicants to meet with a member of the Planning Department, Building Bureau, Corporation Counsel, and Engineering Department and discuss the potential project. At the work session the staff members with work with the applicant to determine what types of approvals, if any, are necessary for the project to proceed.
